May Boomer Update

 
I was guest today at the Hope Island Rotary Club and did a PowerPoint presentation on Mature Age Moving Forward and the need for Maturelink offices in the community so there is a focus on our needs. It was well received by the club. Contact BONZA if you would like me to speak at your group meeting.

I was impressed with the work they do in the community particularly with their youth exchange program with other countries.

During the fellowship session, one of the members approached me about the shortage of carers particularly with Alzheimer’s disease but in other areas as well. Many carers are going to be many needed as Australia ages and we should be planning to turn many of the current unemployed, and the many that soon will be unemployed, into carers. They will need training

Next week’s budget should affect us all in many ways but especially the Baby boomers. I have no doubt that this will be the first of many over the coming decades that will affect our hip pockets.
