APRIL 2009 We now have a blog so if you wish to make comment or raise issues please remember that government and community as a whole have no game plan for an Ageing Australia. It’s never happened before in history where so many aged are still alive and kicking. A very exciting time for us all but a great opportunity for you to have your say so become a blogger and raise your issue. People from all walks of life look at BONZA and I pass your ideas on through my links to government. So, let’s use it as a medium for suggesting ideas for change in government policy and things that affect our quality of life. My employer Epic Employment Services has won a tender to be a Job Network so my interest in Mature Age will be utilised by all involved. My PowerPoint presentation, Mature Age Moving Forward, will be seen by a wider audience as I will be attending employer functions as well as staff training and client workshops. A very busy boy but proud to be a Baby boomer and that will shine through. NOTE: BONZA advocates for a separate government office, a Maturelink, to highlight the importance of Mature Age looking to Move Forward in life not plan for retirement only in our older years. A need for incentives from government for families to build granny flats for the aged care of family members at home.
A need for Community Health Clinics that the aged can attend and not clog the hospital system just as we had some priority at birth due to our numbers. A strong community based program for aged to take an interest in the local community through supporting schools, group exercising, supporting welfare groups and strong social clubs for the aged. Government support in allowing us to build assets so that we can support ourselves more as we age. Developments of the Uni of the Third Age so that minds are kept active through study and research. Lots to do folks so let’s get on with it and have a BONZA LIFE!
